NEWHAILS EASTER EGG TRAIL AND SPRING CLEAN 23.3.08

Today we went to Newhails to do a Trail for Easter eggs. It was not an ‘Easter egg hunt’ because you had to take a sheet and go and find letters with clues to help you then when you found all the letters you had to unjunble the letters to make the word and then bring it back and get an easter egg. But luckily for us we knew that it was Daffodil but after THAT cake juice coffie tea face painting. Me and Lucy got our faces painted and we had it done as a butterfly and it was GORGUS my mum said and grumpy Nigel just grunted yeah fabbydoodabby huh because he cept on saying ‘Emily you know that if it costs 50p you MUST! Ask for change because he gave me £1.But guess what? I think he knew that it cost £0 and 0p anyway HAPPY EASTER!. Emily.

P.S. Thanks for reading it has been a great oner and great pleasure. Emily.

Horrible Histories

(dictated by Emily, typed by mum)

Today I went to see horrible histories and it was GREAT! I went with my class p3/11.

We went on public transport and when we arrived my teacher, Mrs Stewart, had to pay lots of money because we had 26 children going and it cost a lot.

When we went in there was a big picture of an ancient Egyptian crown and the eye on it kept moving right, left, right, left, right and finally when it started it made a loud bang and there came lots of statues, a coffin, a beautiful painted one, a mask of a coffin and animal statues for when they die.

Two men came into a storeroom where they kept the ancient Egyptian monuments and they were trying to nick all of them to get rich. They turned the lights on and then when they heard someone coming they switched them off again. In came a man with funny glasses and he was showing the monuments to one fat girl and when he realised that his special stone had gone he got furious. Then he heard one of the tourists breaking something so he went away. Just then the big girl said "Ancient Egyptian is boring" and she looked around and went all huff and puff and then went she went over to look at the statues the men that were behind her pretended to be statues and she said "What are you doing here?" and then the men said "We're not stealing, we're just looking around".

After that they had great adventures about Rameses and ancient Egyptians. The big man with the clear voice said, when the mummy came out "Ancient Egyptians are rubbish and you're definitely one too sulky pharaoh" and then Rameses said "I AM RAMESES II, the greatest of the world and you will obey me every time I meet you and before I get mummified, before I have finished being pharaoh, you need to build a pyramid for me and my gold and treasures".

They all worked and worked with stones to make a huge pyramid, finally, after 52 years it was finished. And then they had to stock up his big heavy gold into the pyramid but he said "I have waited a long time to be mummified, I want to live for a bit more" and so then he kept playing tricks and he sent the girl and the tall man into a tunnel leading to his pyramid and said "If you can find the treasure in five minutes, you can keep it but I warn you because if you do not do it in five minutes you will trapped in for ever. So, I do not wish you luck but here my words: I am correct" and then they entered the room.

They went from high to low and finally when the girl was lying down she saw a secret passage up in the ceiling then she gave the big man a piggy back and when the managed to open the door there was a pattern on the wall with hieroglyphics on it and just then the girl and the big man asked everyone to look for treasures and then a boy called Cameron found a piece of paper with a picture of a snake on it and it wasn't just any snake it spat out poison before you could get it off and you were dead but if you were a poor person like a farmer, you did not get mummified you were buried in the sand, left naked, facing west on your back.

Just then, when they managed to solve what the picture meant, the secret door opened and everyone had to shout out the letters for Cameron and the snake came out of the picture and gave them a clue but just then it started to move back in the wall and when the managed to get the door open they didn't find treasure and the man said "There's not any treasure" then Rameses came in and said "I know there's not treasure in it, thieves took over it before you and stole all the treasure" and when the girl asked Rameses why ash was there he answered "The robbers put ash there because they wanted to burn the person who lived inside there" and just then we had to put on our special glasses because a picture from the backdrop, when you wore your glasses it looked like it was coming towards your face. It was the man that had been burnt.

Then, just then, there was a shake in the ground and then they were back home again.

And finally, Rameses was mummified and never seen again.

It was very great and the characters were Dr Sims, Rameses, Maisie, Tom and Dick.

Sports Day

I went to school one day. We had everything that we did first. Then in the afternoon we went in to get our gym kit on. We went into the gym hall to get our teams. I was in B6 and then we went round to have our games.

There was a catching game, where you had to throw a ball to a man, and a ball and spoon race and a sack race. My favourite was the big feet one. You had to go on big feet like giant's feet then you had to wear a hat. Then you had to crawl through a tunnel, go through a loop.

Molly Whuppie

All the people in Prestonpans Infant School were going on a bus to see the show of Molly Whuppie. Because there was so much people they had to send three buses.

When we got to the Brunton Theatre we sat down and took our coats off. There was people playing music. There were three ladies and one man. First they showed us the two ladies then one of the ladies said "I think we are ready to start the show of Molly Whuppie".

One of the ladies played five characters. The other lady played five characters. First they showed Molly Whuppie's sister and Molly Whuppie's mum. Molly Whuppie's mum said "I've always got to keep an eye on that Molly. She plays out with not her coat on and she always wanders off". Then the two ladies showed us they lived in a wee house by the sea where you could get raspberries and strawberries and blueberries and things to eat. It was winter the second day and there was no food for the family so the two ladies starved. They dropped to the ground and they got thinner and thinner. When it was night Molly Whuppie put her coat, hat and scarf on and walked the One Hair Bridge to get over to the castle.

The door wasn't locked so she just knocked three times then the king opened the door and said "Who are you?". She said "I'm Molly Whuppie and you can't scare me". I'm Molly Whuppie. He He He". She said "Can I have some food for the Winter Feast?" "If I will give you this food, could you get me the Dragon's Sword, the Never-Empty purse and the Singing Ring?" Molly Whuppie said "That's stealing" and the king said "Well, it's not actually stealing".

The giant was sleeping. The Dragon's Sword was up on a hook. The Never-Empty Purse was under his pillow and the Singing Ring was on his finger. Then she got the things and walked across the One Hair Bridge to the King. Molly Whuppie said "I have got them". She gave them to the King and he gave as much food to her. The King in the story was greedy and said "Would you like a piece? Oh, I've changed my mind. You can't have a piece. Ha Ha Ha!"

Molly Whuppie took the giant home with her and they shared as much food, danced and gave presents.

I Got a Fish Award Today

We went in assembly. We sat down. We singed some songs. The P2s were singing weather songs and were sitting on benches. The first group was the Rainy group then the Thunderstorm group then the Windy Day group and then the Sunny Day group. The Sunny Day song was called "Look at her sunglasses, they're just like squares" - I mean ovals. The Windy Day song was "Mr wit stop whistling round my ears". The Thunderstorm song was "I Hear Thunder". And the Rainy Day song was just a normal song..

Mrs Gardiner said the names and the classes of the people who had got a fish award. A fish award is when you do something that is very good and then you get to go up on the stage to get your fish award. It looks like a fish and it gets pinned on a wall. When the week is over it is another person.

It was a big surprise. I didn't know I was getting a fish award. Mrs Gardiner called my name out and then I went up.

Chinese New Year

When we got on the train it was quite a while to get to Edinburgh. When we got there we went out on the step things and then one road that we got to, the green man taked a long time to get on and then we got across.

When I got at the theatre, we went in but it wasn't ready yet so we went to a café then we went back to the theatre. When we got up the stairs there was things like whistles and write your name in Chinese. We made stars.

We went in a higher lift, then we put our buggy with a lady then we went into a very high lift and then we had a little run about in the big room. The we went up to the theatre bit.

Then we watched the people doing all the funny things. There was skipping. There was the flag waving where the men jumped over the flag and there was a man lifting up a lady. There was bagpipes and drums playing and there was ladies, two men and two ladies and there was a lady that was doing a dance with her leg up.

I enjoyed it.

Christmas Day

When I slept in my mummy's bedroom, when it was morning, my auntie came out of her bed. Then my mummy thought that we should go downstairs. Then we were going to see if Santa Claus was still there. Then we turned on the light.

My auntie put the light on then we went in but the children's presents were in a tent and the grown-up's presents were on a desk and there was Christmas crackers on the desk. We had crumpets for breakfast. I got a skipping rope and Snow White's shoes, a cuddly radio which switches on and off. My mummy and daddy got me a grabber machine.

My granny got me three spinny things, yellow, yellow and red. They had two holes in one side. I got lots of clothes. There was Dora the Explorer and Boots socks. I got a nice pink top with sequins and a skirt that was pink.

The School Christmas Party

We went to a Christmas party. We had a great time. I weared a nice dress that is sparkly and pink. It's got shiny sequins on. And my tights were sparkly with lots of colours. I had sparkly shoes with ribbons but I tucked the ribbons in. Then I changed into my gym shoes because I couldn't run in them.

It was exciting because Santa came and he gave us presents. We played lots of party games. We played "I Sent a Letter to my Mum". We played "There Was a Princess Long Ago" and we done "Santa Wants a Wife" (that's like "Farmer in his Den" but it is different - it is a Christmas one). We played "Hokey Cokey"
.
What we had to eat was: crisps, chocolate sticks, Ribena juice - everyone had the same - sausages, ice cream with strawberry sauce. Mr Telfer said "Would this be nice madam" "Yes" I said when he gave me juice. Then we gone back to sing songs: "Jingle Bells"; "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer".

Emily's Trip to Biggar Puppet Theatre

I went on the bus, not a train. I didn't feel sick at first. I had a great time on the bus. When we got there we had a wee drink because we were quite thirsty until it was lunchtime and then we had a little snack as well but I didn't. When we were finished we went upstairs to the puppets. We found a seat that we want. I liked the show.

The show was about Cinderella. It was quite funny because there was a monkey in it and it wasn't like the real story because Cinderella made a dress but the ugly sisters teared it and Cinderella was allowed to go to the ball.

After the fairy godmother turned all the things right they went in the garden and Cinderella had to go into the garden to get a pumpkin and, last, the fairy godmother turned her nice with nice blue hair with a nice dress. Then they went in the carriage. It was quite funny because Timothy was turned into a horse. Timothy was the little monkey but he had to be a horse to guide Cinderella and when they got there the curtains got down because we had a break and we singed some songs and then the curtains come up and we saw the king at the ball. Then the king waved to us and we waved back.

One person at a time went there. We had a very nice time and when we had our lunch I actually felt sick and I didn't want anything to eat but I had half my roll. Then we went in a group. We played Farmers in His Den first and then we played with those ribbons and last we went on the play park and we went on the swings, the slide and the cosy tunnel. Then we had to go back on the bus and travel home. I been sick three times on the bus home. When we got there I went at the end of the line and I was happy when I saw my mum.

Emily's trip to Edinburgh Zoo

We went to the zoo. We had a great time. I liked every animal that was there. There were sixty animals. I had fun with my friends and I enjoyed the zoo. There is a wee shop where you can store ice creams and your food and I had a very nice time.

I like making partners with my friends. There was big, little and middle-sized animals there and we saw a polar bear.

The polar bear looked at Megan's hat because it was all white and fur and she had a white coat and scarf as well.

There was lovely animals and they looked all at us. I like my teachers because they were in a group and there was Declan's mum. She was in the third group. We liked all the animals.

We had a fantastic time.

Emily's trip to the Brunton Theatre in her own words

(Primary 1s had been having musical and art workshops in collaboration with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra which culminated in a schools event at the Brunton Theatre)

I gone on a bus, not a train. It was a big place. I was a bit nervous to sing but I managed to do it. There was lots of sounds in the Brunton Hall because people were playing lots of noisy instruments and a triangle and I was very happy because it was a very nice place.

And specially I liked the big place because there was pieces of paper and pens to draw with.

We singed "All the Children of the World". We singed "When Planet Earth was found" and we singed "Sur le pont d'Avignon" and danced like this [proceeds to dance in a circle with arms pointing upwards].
