Comics Quiz

In 1999 I put on a Comics Pub Quiz night at the Princess Louise in Holborn to support Hackney Health Action Zone's TLC project, where my friend Christopher Burrows was working at the time. I had a lot of fun putting the quiz together, Diamond were very generous in donating prizes and a good time was had by all.

The questions were in ten themed rounds, and maybe some of them were a bit tough, but you can be the judge of that. Remember the quiz was written in late 1999 so lots of questions were topical then.

Round 1 - 1969

  1. Which was the top selling American comic of 1969 with more than half a million copies per issue ?
  2. Which young Marvel intern helped Roy Thomas plot X-Men 59, the third part of the Neal Adams Sentinels story ?
  3. The first issue of Vampirella came out in September 1969. Which female comics artist designed her costume and which male artist painted the cover having only heard the costume described on the phone ?
